This anthology covers the first three years of the legendary Dutch project Kapotte Muziek, created by Frans De Waard. "Yes it is. You are about to hear and view material that was released by Kapotte Muziek in 1988. It was an anthology of works from the first three and half years of existence. A lifetime it seemed back then, a mere drop in time when I look back on it now. I compiled this tape in 1988 for the US branche of my label Korm Plastics, run by Jeff Surak, who was the driving force...

The ever so active Christian Dergarabedian, aka C.D., aka Earzumba dug up an old recording of him and two boys from Brazil, of whom I never heard: Paulo Beto, of the electronic bossa-nova project Anvil FX and Eloi Silvestre, who builds his own instruments from the trash. Together they operate analogue synths, laptop, tapes, radio and percussion. The recording is from 2002, but sounds still like a very fresh thing. It moves away from the usual Earzumba material but is certainly also not the...

Violet's first release "Let the Sunshine In" is a surreal and warm holiday of sound. Using a record player, guitar, autoharp and tape nothing really sounds like it is. Strange and dark. CD-R is a young Moscow project by Nikita Golyshev. Use of old soviet synths and effects combined with modern techniques and laptop makes an interesting combination of different styles of noise music - "fusion noise." Noisey, fractured soundscapes transform into broken rythms and melodys. This is the second release by CD-R for zeromoon

Arturas Bumsteinas is a digital media artist from Vilnius, Lithuania. He has released several works in MP3 and CDR format, and performs frequently in various countries of Europe. Placido explores a number of approaches to digital music: at times abstract, other times the source material floats to the surface, only to shatter into a million fragments. Six Girls was originally released in 1988 by Watergate Tapes as a 60 minute cassette. It was re-released as a CDR by Staalplaat's Bake Records imprint in 2000. It was remastered from a third generation tape copy, thus restoring the intended poor quality of this recording. Things that appear to be loops, but not quite, are actually tracks composed of infinite micro changes in tempo and timbre.

Normal Music have a very nice take on glitch, as evidenced on Brev (Zero Moon 3" CD), their way of subverting the autonomy of beat regularity, as well as their approach to the dubly layering of various analogue and digital noises, put them far ahead of a largely sleepy herd. The basics here get so cracked at times that I imagine this'd be capable of breaking people's bones on the dance floor if played at the right time and volume. Ellende - "The Proof is in the Pudding" Drones, vocal murmerings, and a heavy does of strangeness comprise this ep from this Tokoyo based group. Sort of dark ambient, but a bit too weird.

Music labels are bombarded by demos, more than they possibly can ever listen to. Sometimes a few demos rise above the onslaught and demonstrate originality and hold your attention. But a small label can't release everything on a CD. So what does one do with the good music that one gets and can't afford to release? Tube Alloys is a project by Zan Hoffman (zh27.org) and Jeff Surak that combines, smelts, and delivers a new work derived from the best parts of some very good demos. Original material...

Andrey Kiritchenko (www.nexsound.org) is well known from his CD releases on Zeromoon, Adnauseum, and his own Nexsound imprint. Here he remixes a track from Second Violin's "Victoria", which was a live improvisation between Zan Hoffman on prepared drawer (a dresser drawer with wires and strings attached and filled with trash) and Jeff Surak on prepared violin (as depicted on the release cover). You can hear the original acoustic improv here:...

If, Bwana is the spawn of the godfather of the 1980's independent hometaping network, Al Margolis. This track is his live performance at the 2006 Sonic Circuits Festival of Experimental Music which took place in Washington, DC. Minimal yet dense drones of a menancing and etheral nature for intense yet scary listening.

This legendary concert collaboration between two of Washington DC's infamous experimental projects was never properly released, although a few cassette copies did circulate across the globe, it is being presented here for the first time in its entirety. Recorded live on April 1 (Fool's Day) 1987 at Enmarge, in Adams Morgan, Washington DC. Whacked out electronic rhythms, turntable abuse, hawaiian guitar, freaked out science teacher vocals, and acid electronics. Its a long download but worth the...

Live performance recorded March 8, 1988 in Arlington, Virginia at the Lee Community Center. Both bands were billed to play separately but decided to play simultaneously instead. Opening were 2 teenage punk bands, as the show was a benefit for the community center, whereas both NC and moreso SGBC were older than the 300 punk kids in attendance, and their usual old long hair psycho fans had a difficult time getting in. After the first 10 minutes of the performance most of the crowd left leaving...
